Empty BOX: Class of 2026
BOX 13 ArtSpace will host its annual “Empty BOX” Silent Auction and Fundraiser on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 7:00 PM. This year’s event celebrates 18 years as a vital, experimental force in Houston’s art community, marking a milestone moment of reflection, recognition, and looking forward to what’s next, much like a graduating class.
Since its founding in 2008, BOX 13 has played a key role in Houston’s dynamic art scene, thanks to the dedicated efforts of its artist members, past and present. As we honor this “Class of 2026,” we recognize the many artists and collaborators who have shaped BOX 13 into a thriving, collaborative hub. From hosting art-making events to assisting with gallery installations, their contributions have ensured the continued success of this unique arts space. With 22 local artists currently utilizing our studio spaces, and over 40 artists set to showcase their work this year, BOX 13 remains a vital platform for artistic expression and innovation.
The fundraiser will feature two key components: the “Empty BOX” Silent Auction and the Poor Man’s Raffle. In the spirit of graduation, this year’s auction celebrates both legacy and future, honoring the artists and community that brought us here while investing in the next generation. The Silent Auction offers attendees the opportunity to acquire artwork donated by talented local, national, and international artists, while the Poor Man’s Raffle provides a chance to win work by BOX 13’s current Resident Artists.
Proceeds from both the Silent Auction and Raffle directly support BOX 13’s mission to foster the creation and advancement of experimental contemporary art. These funds sustain our free open call and year-round program of rotating, innovative exhibitions, ensuring that future “classes” of artists continue to have a space to grow and experiment. Those unable to attend can make donations via Zelle or PayPal through our Donate page.
BOX 13 continues its tradition of supporting artists by providing a space for creative exploration and meaningful community connection. Don’t miss the opportunity to join the “Class of 2026” for an engaging evening of art, philanthropy, and celebration.
