Trevon Latin
Artist Bio
Trevon Latin is a Houston-born multimedia artist whose practice explores Blackness, queerness, Southern aesthetics, spirituality, class, and the imaginative possibilities of world-building. Working across painting, sculpture, installation, performance, and fiber, Latin combines found objects, textiles, sequins, canvas, and other materials to create tactile environments populated by avatars, figures, and symbolic objects. His work draws from childhood memories, Southern Black domestic aesthetics, queer nightlife, mythology, religion, and popular culture, transforming personal and cultural references into fantastical landscapes. Latin received a BFA from the University of Houston and an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Yale University. His work has been exhibited internationally, including solo exhibitions at Perrotin in New York and group exhibitions in Paris, Los Angeles, and Turin. His recent project, Catwalk, considers walking, observation, community, and the social landscape of Houston. In 2026, Latin began a residency at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, where he continues to expand his material practice through fiber and mixed-media experimentation.
