Tyler Deauvea
Artist Bio
Tyler Deauvea is a self-taught, Houston-based multimedia artist working across painting, digital collage, textile collage, wood sculpture, and animation. Originally grounding his visual discipline in photography and film, Deauvea developed his signature aesthetic by channeling the kinetic energy of animation, pop culture, and African American culture into complex graphic forms.
Deauvea made his formal gallery debut in 2019 at Collect It For The Culture II, exhibiting alongside established figures such as Mark Flood, Floyd Newsum, and Jesse Lott. His first solo exhibition, BROKE BOYS GET FIXED (2021) at San Francisco’s Glass Rice Gallery, marked the first formal presentation of his digital and textile work side by side. In 2022, his digital works reached national audiences through custom lightbox installations created for the touring Art, Beats & Lyrics platform presented by Jack Daniel’s. His sculptural and spatial practice expanded further in 2023 with a collaged wood sculpture and painting installation featured in Art League Houston’s Sculpture Garden, following a residency with the P.A.C. program.
In 2025, Deauvea presented his second solo exhibition, FEAR NOT, IT IS ONLY YOUR BLESSING, at David Shelton Gallery. His work has been acquired through benefit auctions at major institutions, including the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH), DiverseWorks, and Art League Houston.
Deauvea operates out of Houston, where he is a member of the artist-run space BOX 13 ArtSpace, continuing to push the boundaries of contemporary Black iconography, world-building, and figurative storytelling.
